Welcome to Parent Resources
Your child was recently screened through South Dakota KidSight, and this page is designed to walk you through their results, explain next steps, and connect you with the care that supports your child’s healthy vision.
What Our Screeners Detect
The Spot Vision Screener checks for the most common childhood vision problems in just a few seconds. It can identify:
-
Nearsightedness (difficulty seeing far away)
-
Farsightedness (difficulty seeing up close)
-
Astigmatism (blurry or distorted vision)
-
Anisometropia (unequal prescription between the eyes)
-
Strabismus (eye misalignment)
-
Anisocoria (unequal pupil size)
-
Amblyopia risk factors (“lazy eye” indicators)
If Your Child Was Flagged for an Eye Exam
If your child’s vision screening results recommend a visit to an eye doctor and cost is a barrier, the South Dakota Lions can help. Families can apply for financial assistance to cover the exam—and glasses if needed.
